AIDC UK to host Bright Animal Project

AIDC UK is the project coordinator of Bright Animal, a project funded by the European Commission to look at precision livestock farming (PLF). According to the Bright Animal mission statement the project will:

“Produce a framework for European and non-European small and medium enterprises on effective and acceptable precision livestock farming and create an international interdisciplinary network for further development and dissemination.”

Precision livestock farming addresses the need for high standards of animal welfare, husbandry, feed control, veterinary management and transportation as key means of improving farming efficiency, productivity and food quality. AIDC UK will represent the automatic identification and data capture industry whose technologies will play a key role in developing PLF, especially in the area of traceability and the provision of data throughout the animals’ life cycle.

Bright Animal partners comprise PLF experts from leading research and commercial organisations across Europe plus international contributors from China, South Africa, Australia and Brazil.

The project’s initial meeting will be held at the AIDC European Centre of Excellence, Halifax, UK, from May 25 -27, when around 60 delegates are expected to attend. For more information about the project contact amanda.brooke@aidc.org
